By the 1600’s , Europeans found a southern route to the indies. However, they  didn’t find a northern route. In 1602, the Dutch started a trading business called Dutch East India Company. One of the goals they had was to search for a northwest passage to the indies. The crewman found a experienced sailor named Henry Hudson. In 1609, Hudson set off from the Netherlands with a crew of 20 men. They sailed on a ship Called Half Moon. Hudson abandon his mission because it grew colder and colder for them to keep traveling, so he turned the ship around and went back. In 16710 England hired Hudson to find a northwest route on a ship called The Discovery. Hudson led straight to a large bay, now called Hudson Bay. Hudson kept searching for a water route to get away from the bay. When winter set in, The bay froze and they had to stay in a log hut to wait for spring. Of June 1611, the weather had warmed and the water began to unfreeze. When the crew realized Hudson was sailing west, the crew became angry and decided to throw him off the boat, into a smaller one with loyal some loyal crew members, and no oars. Hudson and the others were never heard from again. Hopefully we can find a answer to this mystery.
